  3. Comments Yevgeniy Maizel: “What are the main features of Yuriy Leiderman’s literary prose, for which both “Birmingham Ornaments” are, actually, heraldic decorations? Primarily, this writing is rhythmically and poetically organized, stylistically located between philosophy essays and clinical schizophasia. In the fragments where the schizophasia looks overwhelming, one is tempted to define this literature (and these films) as parodies”.

    A. Monastyrskyi: “… no matter how similar are numerous genres Leiderman works with, they are connected to each other with single handwriting, single poetic and personal discourse, and originality inherent only in Leiderman. It seems to me that the trait of multi-genre, of switching from one genre to another, which is so characteristic of Leiderman, generates from the fact that, while constructing a particular artwork within the frames of a specific genre, he always keeps in mind the critics of this genre (similarly to the critics of ideology) at two levels at once – on the horizon of his personal destiny and history and on the horizon of the fate and possibilities of a genre at a given stage of development of contemporary art”.
